Forgiveness.
As a recently ordained minister, a few Bible passages come to mind which address the subject. The first can be found at John 8:7, "Let he who is without sin cast the first stone." Matthew 5:9 also quotes Jesus, who said, "Blessed are the peacemakers."
But like so much Biblical wisdom, there are an awful lot of contradictions. For instance, there's Deuteronomy 19:21 which proclaims, "Show no pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot."
You'll find the contravening response to that ever-so bellicose proclamation in Matthew 3:38-39, "You have heard that it was said, 'eye for eye and tooth for tooth.' But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also."
Okay... so how does all that scripture apply to the contemporary political zeitgeist? Well, it's possible that democrats have committed a few sins over the past several years, all of which occurred whilst they had control of congress. Now that they've lost their majority, they're seeking forgiveness.
Republicans will take control of the House of Representatives in January; committee chairs and subpoena powers will no longer be held by democrats. The hearings into Hunter Biden and his family's cash flow from foreign countries, including America's adversaries, are about to begin. The "Big Guy" may soon be outed.
Another investigation soon to be launched will be the origins of Covid; if ever there was a case for "an eye for an eye," it's the worldwide deaths of nearly 7 million people. The Wuhan Institute of Virology, gain of function research, Anthony Fauci and the Chinese Communist Party; hearings will be held and there will be... there should be, no turning of the other cheek.
Democrats, liberals, and their media allies are worried sick, they're making pleas to let bygones be bygones, they want no more stone throwing; they want to make peace.
How quickly democrat politicians forget about the Holy War they waged against Donald Trump during his presidency. And now, the Justice Department just announced another political crusade, this one against... that's right, newly announced presidential candidate... Donald Trump.
With Hunter Biden and the "Big Guy," Covid origins, open borders, fentanyl deaths, and many other possible/probable democrat-committed sins about to be investigated, sins which have serious national security implications, sins which have cost countless lives, it all comes down to another verse from the scriptures, this one Romans 12:19, "Vengeance is mine sayeth the Lord." Or, in this case, His duly appointed representatives, also known as...
Congressional republicans.
Amen.
