"Nothing But Heartaches."
That was a 1966 hit by the Supremes, and yesterday, democrat politicians, the people who vote for them, and the liberal media were singing those lyrics as a dirge after the Supremes, as in the Supreme Court, issued its Trump-friendly... and constitutionally derived, decision on presidential immunity.
Afterwards, many of them went "Up the Ladder to the Roof" to shout their displeasure or, perhaps, to jump, because the decision makes it highly unlikely that any of the government's outstanding trials against Donald Trump will go forward, certainly not before the election. Meanwhile, he's free to campaign nationwide and, after last week's debate, he'll be hitting the trail with an ever-growing lead.
"I'll Try Something New," wasn't the response from critics; instead, it was the same old same old. Anti-Trumpers began spouting anew their apocalyptic complaints and predictions about dystopias and dictatorships. "What's to stop Trump from ordering Seal Team 6 to kill his political opponents," was one disconnected-from-reality question. But that query wasn't posed by hyperbole slingers like Sandy Cortez, or hypocritical partisans like Chuck Schumer, or even doddering, incoherent, senile old men like Joe Biden. No, that quote comes straight from Sonia Sotomayor... one of the Supremes, herself!
But you can't blame her; "Some Things You Never Get Used To," and for democrat politicians, the people who vote for them, and the liberal media, the title of that 1968 Supremes hit places in a nutshell their feelings about Donald Trump.
And so, going forward, you can expect to hear another warning repeated in an endless refrain: "Donald Trump is a threat to democracy." And they almost got that one right, except, what they really mean is... Donald Trump is a threat to democrats. But maybe there's still hope for a rapprochement, because, as Diana Ross would sing....
"You Can't Hurry Love."
