Joe Biden held a news conference yesterday, and much to the everlasting horror of his staff, he rambled on for nearly two hours. Imagine a dust-crusted, shriveled-up old bull wandering around a corral dropping cow-pies hither and yon, then "circling back" to step all over them... the perfect metaphor.
Immediately after Joe Biden staggered off stage and collapsed in a chair, the White House communications team had to grab their pooper-scoopers and clean up the messes he left behind, one of which was the steaming pile Joe Biden dropped whilst riffing about a Russian invasion of Ukraine.
"It's one thing if it's a minor incursion and we end up having to fight about what to do and not do. But if they actually do what they're capable of doing with the forces amassed on the border, it is going to be a disaster for Russia if they further invade Ukraine."
A "minor incursion?" Joe Biden seemed to be pre-excusing a small-scale invasion, which is the equivalent of saying a sexual assault is less troublesome than a fully consummated rape... an easily understood analogy since Joe Biden's been accused of the former.
If only that was the only disconnected-from-reality statement Joe Biden made. After proclaiming his first year in office to be the most successful ever, he began giving answers to questions from one side of the room that, moments later, he contradicted when the same query was posed by the other... which is what doddering, often incoherent, senile old men are wont to do.
Which lends credence to the possibility that Joe Biden actually believes his first year in office was the "extraordinary success" he said it was. But by no measure of success is that true, although... to be fair, senility notwithstanding, Joe Biden has always had a very contentious relationship with the truth.
As he opened his news conference, Joe Biden's approval ratings were already free-falling... independents and Hispanics are abandoning him in droves; lucid, objective democrats are bailing, too. When he finished speaking, there's no chance his polling improved... with one of the most bizarre, unhinged-from-reality exhibitions ever, Joe Biden well-and-truly dropped a deuce and stepped in it.
The simplified take-aways were these: Vladimir got a green light... let the "minor incursion" begin. For Americans, however... the light is blinking red; there's danger ahead...
