Under the category of "Whoa... What the Aitch?!" you'll find the following, which says it all about republican politicians.
Yesterday, the republican-controlled House of Representatives presented Articles of Impeachment to the democrat-held Senate. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was charged with 2 counts of administrative malfeasance for allowing over 10 million illegal aliens and tons of fentanyl to cross the border over the past 3 years.
Most people... well, perhaps that's a little presumptive, know that an impeachment begins in the House, where the indictment is produced, and is sent to the Senate, where the trial is held. Yesterday's impeachment trial was the shortest in history.
Upon receiving the Articles of Impeachment, Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer, following long-standing parliamentary procedures, immediately called for a motion to block the impeachment and, because they hold the majority, democrats voted unanimously to pass the motion... quick as that, the impeachment was quashed. There will be no trial, Alejandro Mayorkas is free to head on back down to the border and continue to hand out welcome baskets to the never-ending stream of illegal border crossers.
Okay... that's politics; elections have consequences... the majority rules, right? Well, yes, usually, but...
On December 18, 2019, the democrat-controlled House of Representatives presented 2 Articles of Impeachment to the republican-held Senate, Donald Trump was charged with administrative malfeasance for a phone call with the Ukrainian president.
Upon receiving the Articles of Impeachment, Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, did NOT follow long-standing parliamentary procedures, he did NOT immediately call for a motion to block the impeachment... it was NOT quashed, and whilst Donald Trump was eventually acquitted, the political damage was done. Whoa... What the Aitch, indeed!
What good is a republican majority? Mitch McConnell's act of political perfidy proves republicans are cannibals, they eat their own... they won't protect each other; there's almost never a unanimous vote on anything. Democrats, by comparison, are political myrmidons, they follow the party line in lockstep; they never eat their own... they'll protect even the most loathsome colleagues. Democrats almost always vote unanimously, even if it's detrimental to America, and it often is.
The election is less than 7 months away and republicans are looking good to keep the House, retake the Senate, and win the presidency... not because they're great leaders but, by comparison to the current democrat incumbents, they're the lesser of two evils. Nevertheless, when it's all over, republicans could hold the political Triple Crown. It would be wise to temper the celebration, however... republican majorities are meaningless because...
Even when they win, the people who vote for them still lose.
