The juris-prudential events of last week provided a wake-up call for the wide a-Woke... lost in their meltdown over the Roe v. Wade reversal was the Supreme Court's license-to-carry ruling which affects what were deemed to be unconstitutional gun control laws in 13 states. Going forward, there can be no arbitrary impediments imposed by state legislatures against law abiding citizens who wish to obtain a license to carry their legally purchased and properly registered firearms.
The outcry was immediate, full throated, and, as usual when democrat politicians, liberals, and their media allies disagree with anything... filled with emotional, knee-jerk responses that paid no attention to the constitution or, for that matter, basic common sensical considerations. The streets are currently crawling with heavily armed criminals responsible for record murder rates but, according to the aforementioned triumvirate, it's licensed-to-carry legal gun owners who'll turn the streets of, for instance, New York City, into "the wild west."
That's what New York mayor, Eric Adams said as he railed against the Supreme Court ruling. Since his inauguration, Eric Adams hasn't missed a single party in the Big Apple, but apparently he's totally missed the crime stats... violent crime is up 37% over last year's record highs. New York... and a host of other democrat-run cities, already are the wild west.
Consider the following exchange between law enforcement and a group of citizens...
"Some of us are wondering what you're doing about the outlaw element in this town?"
"My deputies and I arrest them."
"But they're never convicted; they just go free to rob and kill again."
"I'm just the sheriff, not the judge and jury."
You might think that was a conversation held in the streets of New York... or any number of other democrat run cities nationwide, places where violent crimes... rapes, robberies, car jackings, stabbings, shootings, and murders, are being committed in record numbers, places where criminals are "never convicted, they just go free to rob and kill again." But no, actually, that was a snippet of dialog from a TV show set in 1882; "Tombstone Territory" was originally broadcast in 1958!
Today, it's been 140 years since the era depicted, 64 years after those lines were written, and criminals still aren't being convicted, they're still being freed to rob and kill again. It's no less the wild west now than it ever was. But Eric Adams and his democrat colleagues, as usual, have it ass-backwards; the problem isn't law abiding citizens who'll now be allowed to carry their legally purchased and properly registered firearms, it's the gun-toting "outlaws" who prey on the unarmed. In response, democrat politicians, liberals, and their media allies have committed themselves to do everything possible to prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves against the criminals they set free to rob and kill again.
But streets full of armed outlaws doesn't seem to matter to Eric Adams and the mayors of other lawless towns democrat politicians have run for generations. Which makes the final line of the aforementioned dialog ever more relevant...
"Nobody wants to be on the jury, it's too dangerous."
Well, there's that, plus... with people being killed in droves, it's tough to find anyone brave enough to leave their house, let alone report for jury duty.
